East Dean Halloween Ghost Walk
A guided evening walk around East Dean with stories of the village's notorious characters: the Black Monk who is reputed to lure people to their death at Beachy Head, the ghost of the headless smuggler who appears on the trail during and shortly after a harvest moon, and, if the wind is in the right direction, the ghostly cries of the condemned smugglers. Meet at 6:45pm in the overflow car park opposite East Dean & Friston Village Hall (what3words ///coder.proves.deposits), where guide Larry will meet you; the walk starts promptly at 7pm. It takes approx 90 minutes and covers about 1.2 miles at a moderate pace, over pavements, unpaved paths, residential roads, grass verge and a path with a steep descent, with a stile to climb. Sturdy footwear is a must and warm clothing is advised. Places are limited to a maximum of 10, so booking is recommended, via the website or by email.
